Williams Men and New Hampshire Women Headline Day 2 of Dartmouth Carnival

Fresh snow and cool temperatures set the scene for a great day of racing on Saturday at the final day of the 2017 Dartmouth Carnival at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. For the men, a two lap, 10-kilometer course and for the women, a one lap 5-kilometer course set the scene for the conclusion of the fourth weekend of EISA racing. By the end of the day, it was Fabian Stocek (Dartmouth) and Elizabeth Gill (New Hampshire) who skied ahead to take wins in their respective races individually while it was the Williams men and the New Hampshire women who earned team victories.

In the men’s race Stocek skied to his fifth individual EISA victory of the season in 27:25, just seven seconds ahead of runner-up Eli Honeig (Williams). Third place went to UNH’s Peter Holmes and fourth to Ian Moore (Vermont). Williams skier Braden Becker placed fifth to notch his highest career EISA finish.

Williams College continued their dominance of individual distance racing, in the process tallying 115 points to runner-up Dartmouth’s 113. University of Vermont men placed third with 108 points.

Elizabeth Gill earned her second EISA victory and skied the course in 15:32. Second place went to Abigail Drach (Dartmouth), third place went to Alayna Sonnesyn (Vermont), and forth place was earned by Silje Wilson (New Hampshire). The women’s top-five was rounded out by Sadie James (Bates) with a career best fifth place finish.
